"It's the Journey that teaches you about your true destination"

Codependency
Codependency describes a relationship whereby one party in the social dynamic enables the other party’s dysfunctional behaviour. The former assumes the role of a rescuer of sorts, often to their own detriment, and the latter often occupying the role of a victim. The individual that occupies the victim role is often needy, immature and troubled, with addictive disorders also being commonly present. The individual in the rescuer role tends functioning, compassionate and empathetic and they often end up enabling the victim due to their desire to care and help through self-sacrifice.
You may be in a codependent relationship if:
-
The other individual in the relationship seems to be dependent on you while your efforts to help them progress in life have not proved fruitful.
-
The other individual in the relationship avoids fulfilling their responsibilities in spite of previously discussed arrangements and through the use of perpetual excuses.
